THREE!

Around the start of the 5th Century the Romans gave up Briton. It was simply too costly and too far away to keep defending. And new threats were coming from the North East coast of Europe – groups of Germanic warriors called Angles and Saxons kept attacking British coastal towns.

When the Romans withdrew, Briton would fall into a century and a half of chaos as various invaders attacked the now-undefended island and fought for control. It is from this period that the legend of King Arthur originates. He is likely just a myth though. No such person ever really existed.
