Four days? How about the 4th Century AD!

By the fourth century the Empire was becoming harder to defend. Barbarian invaders from the North and the East (modern day Germany and Russia) began to attack the frontiers and push their way into Roman territory.

Over the next century and a half the Empire started to shrink. Sometimes this happened peacefully – as the Romans just withdrew to a position they could better defend – and sometimes it happened suddenly and with battle, mayhem and death.
